Hosting provider not upgrading to PHP8 - who would you suggest

Hi All,

I read some good posts from @terabyte on Invision, I've been waiting for a year for Hostgator to upgrade their PHP to v8, reading that my best option is to move hosting provider.

Any suggestions as to who you would recommend / had good service from please and how best to migrate multiple websites/wordpress?

Many thanks,

Richard

@Avocation I moved to a new hosting, Hawk Host, about half a year ago and I haven't had any issues with them so far.

If you want to give them a chance, here's a link to their site: https://www.hawkhost.com/

Browsing their site for a while will also show you a popup with a discount code. For example, I just got one with this code that allows a recurring 30% off for some of their hosting plans:

HHI-G19KMTI6CJ

In case it doesn't work anymore by the time you try to use it, just browse the site for a while and you'll probably get another.

EDIT

To add some more info, I had initially moved to Hostgator while I was on 4.6 (so using PHP 7.4), but then I noticed they didn't have PHP 8 available yet.

I was willing to wait, but then I found out they silently limit cronjobs to run every 15 minutes. Invision Community requires the cronjob to run every minute and they were silently editing it behind the scenes without any kind of warning or notice to let me know about it. The fact that they force cronjobs to run every 15 minutes is only mentioned in their support FAQ, their sales page doesn't mention it at all.

That's how I ended up looking around some more and ended up on Hawk Host.

Thanks @terabyte - that's a good tip for an alternative host.

I've even looked at spinning up my own server on Linode to create my own version of the server I use for shared hosting with channel at host gator. I fell down when it came to managing the email accounts though - passed the limit of my limited knowledge!

I'll checkout hawk host and thanks for the tip.
