Gorbo Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 So I posted another mod request on IZE because I know how busy TB is.Basically its just an upgrade to the PP Bookie to allow members to post new events.Metalaxe posted on my topic and tells me to go to their site and ask for this so I did. After 2 days of them asking questions to be sure they understand what I want I get the final quote this morning....Here is a copy of the email.. > Thank you for taking the time to work out your requirements with our developer. After a final review of the requested features, we feel that we can provide the final product for $1100. If this is acceptable, please let us know how you would like to make payment. We accept all major credit cards and verified PayPal accounts. Should you choose to use PayPal, please provide us with the email on the account so that we can send the invoice directly to it.> > If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let us know.> > Kind Regards,> > Kevin Peno> Project Manager> Metalaxe They are INSAINE!!! Gorbo Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 That was my reaction! lolI was sorta looking for about $100, little more or less but when I saw that I about shat myself!II started wondering if Im in the wrong line of work lol.... My SiteAnd another (heavly custom modded)
GaVrA Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Wtf??? For some mod they want 1100 dollars? Ffs for that kind of money you can buy 10 IPB forums...
Gorbo Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 Don't get me wrong, I have no problem spending money to get what I want and sometime I understand the need to spend more to get it faster (mostly cause Im an impatient bastard lol) but this felt more like a ripoff to me than anything. After sending them a respectful responce to their quote telling them that I have had many other quotes which were 10x less that the only difference being the time frame to complete that for this price I could wait quite a while lol...here was their responce.I simply responded..."http://www.invisionbyte.net" to this one lol....Hello, I'm sorry you feel that we are a scam or ripoff. Our clients feel otherwise and are completely ecstatic with the experience they've had with us. You are right, we cannot compare with bedroom programmers that do this stuff in their free time for less than minimum wage. However, that is just how web business works. I challenge you to find a real business that will offer you the quality, dependability, and support that we give for a comparable price. If you are over 18 with good standing credit, you can apply for "Buyer Credit" from PayPal and work out a payment plan with them over a 12 month period. Additionally, perhaps a small loan from a bank is possible. However, outside of that, I'm not sure what more we can do to help, and I apologize if you feel we wasted your time. Metalaxe is a registered partnership in the state of Washington with a client list over 200 and growing. I wish there was something we could do to accommodate adding you to that list, however I do not see how this is possible given the circumstances. If there is anything we can do to help you in the future, please do not hesitate to let us know! Kind Regards, Kevin PenoProject ManagerMetalaxe P.S. I appreciate that you did not release our telephone number on Invisionize when you posted my reply. Thank you. My SiteAnd another (heavly custom modded)
GaVrA Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I understand that you are willing to pay for some custom mods, but what the heck is this mod?
Gorbo Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 Its a Bookie mod allowing members to bet gold or points on sports games or whatever they wish.Basically its just a simple upgrade of the PP Bookie but since they encoded this mod it would have to be rewritten for it to work correctly.Im sure it would take no time to do it because honestly its pretty simple.Definetly not worth over $150. TPB Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 (edited) I'm not a big payer of one mod, I mean, uh.. that's more than the board cost itself! I would NEVER give that place any business (unless I was a millionare and had nobody else that could do it). The max I ever seeing paying for one mod is the $60 iCommerce from InvisionTweaks.. cuz it could make the world of difference in gaining me income.. lol, not just for fun. Their customers need to hear about Terabyte. If we keep giving him business, and refer others, he will get bigger and hire help and only increase his service cost by about $2-3 probably, RIGHT TERABYTE? lol. Edited December 30, 2007 by thecw3
Gorbo Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 I don't mind paying alot for a mod which takes alot of time to make or that I want very bad.Its the supply/demand part of life and with my site I have alot of demand with a very limited supply of modders able to do what I want  The most I have paid so far for a mod is $280 and whats worse is that Im the only one who will ever see it in action lol.No idea how much I have sent TB though :) My SiteAnd another (heavly custom modded)
Management terabyte Posted December 30, 2007 Management Posted December 30, 2007 You are right, we cannot compare with bedroom programmers that do this stuff in their free time for less than minimum wage. However, that is just how web business works.Well... I use my pc about 16 hours a day to make scripts and other related things, is not only my "free time" and i know also that my prices are low but anyway 1100$ for this simple modification is simply too much lol Board Rules - Available Products - Need a Custom Work? < Don't PM me for support, post in the forum or submit a ticket from the client area instead! >
GaVrA Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Well i guess, at 95% the time someone makes some pretty popular site that simply changes ppl... I just hope invisionbyte.net will stay the same like it is now, even when it would have 1000 members or even 10000
Iris Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 i suggest to Terbayte to charge 110 to Gorbo and make it :lol:with 6 weeks production time sounds reasonable @ Gorbo , did u ask Alex also ( ahmodding) LOL LOL http://www.xxx-devils.com/DevilsLair/4thBanner.jpgVisit My TopListVisit My Pagerank Toplist
